The success model
In 1994, the Bundeswehr gave up around 58 hectares of military land in Kassel as part of its troop reduction program. Two barracks areas in Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe have since been used for civilian purposes: The attractively landscaped Marbachshöhe district was created on 38 hectares with residential buildings, the FiDT Technology and Start-up Center Kassela local shopping center and service companies.
An urban development contract between the federal government and the city regulated development and parceling, so that investors only had to focus on their construction project. This successful model was also applied to the "Marbachshöhe Technology Park" and transformed former military areas into a lively urban quarter.
The surfaces
The The total site covers an area of around 15 hectares. Part of the space will continue to be used by the German Armed Forces with a training center. Furthermore, companies from the fields of research and development, communication and design as well as the Aeronautical engineering located. Gastronomy is also present. The designation as a low-emission commercial area with the exclusion of disruptive uses creates the necessary attractive environment for the industries mentioned. The technical infrastructure (sewerage, electricity, water, district heating, communications technology) is state of the art. The prerequisites for the installation of "digital media and communication technology" are in place.

The Marbachshöhe Technology Park is located in the attractive district of Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe on the edge of the Habichtswald Nature Park. A fast highway connection is guaranteed via an efficient road network. A particular advantage is its location directly next to the Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe ICE train station, which can be reached on foot in just a few minutes. A Direct streetcar connection ensures short distances to the prospering Wilhelmshöhe service center and the city. The convenient location, the proximity to the companies in the technology center FiDT and the research and development facilities of the University of Kassel create an attractive environment for technology-oriented companies. Branches, sales centers, branch offices for development teams and call and service centers can also be located here.
