Our shareholders and our advisory board
Founded in 1988 as“Wirtschaftsförderungsgesellschaft Kassel mbH”and now known as “Wirtschaftsförderung Region Kassel GmbH” (WFG Kassel), the organization serves as a trusted point of contact for businesses, policymakers, research sector and other stakeholders. The city of Kassel and the district of Kassel worked hand in hand and developed the WFG as one of the first public-private partnership projects in the region The company continued to develop into an independent limited company until the end of the 1990s.
Overview of shareholders
Today, the shareholders of Wirtschaftsförderung Region Kassel GmbH include the City of Kassel and the District of Kassel, the Kassel Savings Bankthe Volksbank Kassel Göttingen eG,the IHK Kassel-Marburg and the Kassel Chamber of Crafts, bringing together key regional partners and shareholders. Under its Articles of Association, WFG Kassel promotes initiatives that strengthen the economy of the City and District of Kassel, improve business-related infrastructure, and safeguard existing jobs while creating new employment opportunities, laying the foundation for sustainable economic growth in the region.
To ensure impartiality and support this objective, it was agreed that WFG Kassel would not charge clients directly for its services. Operating costs are covered by the shareholders on a pro rata basis.

Overview Advisory Board
The advisory board of WFG Kassel consists of a chairman and up to 16 members. It is with Representatives of the shareholders, the political groups from the city and district of Kassel, the chambers, the labor administration, the trade unions and the University of Kassel. In several annual meetings, it advises and supports the management and the shareholders' meeting on groundbreaking issues. It does not meet in public in order to be able to discuss and agree on upcoming important decisions of major political significance in advance.
