Kassel Airport (KSF) is a public regional airport in the north of Hesse. It went into operation on April 4, 2013, following extensive redevelopment. Located about 16 kilometers northwest of Kassel’s regional center, the airport offers direct access to the A7 motorway via the B7.
Express bus line 100 connects the terminal with Kassel city center and the ICE train station Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe every 30-60 minutes (travel time approx. 25 or 40 minutes).

From a Study from 2025 shows that Kassel Airport is a key driver for northern Hesse. Commercial traffic at Kassel Airport accounted for around 50 % of aircraft movements in 2024. It holds around 1,200 direct jobs in what are now 40 local companies, catalyzed together with supply and consumption effects A total of around 3,400 employees and generates an annual Gross value added of € 291 millionof which 171.6 million € remain directly in the region.The resulting Tax revenue of € 72.6 million (2023) clearly exceed the public subsidies and demonstrate the airport's positive fiscal balance. Every commercial flight thus not only ensures mobility, but also stabilizes a growing Aerospace cluster with players such as Airbus Helicopters and Piper Deutschland - a location factor that local economy and the public sector in Kassel can hardly do without.
Kassel Airport Industrial Park
The Kassel Airport Industrial Park in Calden has matured into a growth engine for the region since 2013. More than 35 companies — primarily from the aviation sector — with over 1,200 employees benefit from the direct apron access to the regional airport. From here, Europe’s economic centers can be reached by plane in just one to two hours.
This unique proximity to the airport combined with generous, developed areas and strong aerospace networks makes the location one of the most important maintenance, logistics and innovation hubs in Germany today.
