With the founding of "Wirtschaftsförderungsgesellschaft Kassel mbH", which today operates under the name "Wirtschaftsförderung Region Kassel GmbH" (WFG Kassel) was established in 1988 as a trustworthy contact point for companies, politicians, the Research sector and other stakeholders. The city of Kassel and the district of Kassel worked hand in hand and developed the WFG as one of the first public-private partnership projects in the region The company continued to develop into an independent limited company until the end of the 1990s.
Overview of shareholders
In addition to the city of Kassel and the county of Kassel today also include the Kassel Savings Bankwhich Volksbank Kassel Göttingen eGwhich IHK Kassel-Marburg and the Kassel Chamber of Crafts to the Shareholders of Wirtschaftsförderung Region Kassel GmbH. The articles of association stipulate that the WFG Kassel promotes all measures that benefit the Strengthening economic power of the city and district of Kassel, the Improvement of the business-related infrastructure and the Securing and creating Workplaces serve.
To be as impartial and to achieve this goal, it was agreed that the GmbH no direct monetary consideration for their services may demand. The operating costs are borne by the shareholders on a pro rata basis.

Overview Advisory Board
The advisory board of WFG Kassel consists of a chairman and up to 16 members. It is with Representatives of the shareholders, the political groups from the city and district of Kassel, the chambers, the labor administration, the trade unions and the University of Kassel. In several annual meetings, it advises and supports the management and the shareholders' meeting on groundbreaking issues. It does not meet in public in order to be able to discuss and agree on upcoming important decisions of major political significance in advance.
