Sandershäuser Berg business park in Niestetal

The Sandershäuser Berg business park is strategically located in the middle of Germany, directly on the A7 highway, and is an important location for industry and commerce in the Kassel economic region. With its central location and excellent infrastructure it offers optimal conditions for companies and investors.

Historical development

With Municipality of Niestetal opened up the initially 25 hectares large area in several construction phases. Already Development began in 2010 with the connection from state road 562 to the existing bridge structure over the A7 highway. Further sections followed, including the construction of new road axes and traffic circles to ensure effective accessibility and traffic connections.

The southern connection to the A7 in the area of the Sandershäuser Strasse was completed in 2011followed by a central gap closure up to the "Kasseler Straße/Söhrestraße/An der Autobahn" traffic circle. This was converted into a so-called "Turbo gyroscope" to optimize traffic flow and create an efficient connection to the Kassel-Nord freeway junction.

Present and perspectives

The business park currently comprises a Area of 85 hectareswhich is gradually being developed. In addition to its proximity to hubs such as Frankfurt and Hanover, the location has a unique selling point: a Redundant power supply with up to 120 MW. A five-fold increase in capacity is planned by the end of the decade, making the area particularly attractive for energy-intensive industries.

A particular focus is on the possible Location of data centerswhich are gaining in importance due to increasing digitalization and the growing need for artificial intelligence. The Kassel region could benefit from this trend. Data centers not only consume a lot of electricity, but also generate considerable amounts of Waste heat that can be used for a sustainable heat supply can be used.

Location and connection

Located in the east of Kassel, this business park is characterized by excellent connections:

  • 0.2 km to public transport
  • 11 km to Wilhelmshöhe ICE train station
  • 0.5 km to the highway
  • 21 km to Kassel-Calden Airport

The Sandershäuser Berg business park is further developed inter-municipally by the special-purpose association members and the municipality of Niestetal. The focus is on intensive regional cooperation in order to secure the economic stability and income situation of the participating municipalities.
