Fairytale district of Kassel

A good 200 years ago, in the fairytale forests of Kassel and countless other places in and around Kassel, the Brothers Grimm came up with the ideas for their stories, which are now among the most widely read, most translated and most illustrated books in world literature. Many places in the district are associated with the fairy tales of the Brothers Grimm, such as Sababurg, known as Sleeping Beauty's Castle, or Trendelburg Castle, which is associated with Rapunzel.

Attractive business location

The district of Kassel is an attractive business location that benefits from its proximity to the city of Kassel. The largest towns in the district are Baunatal, Vellmar and Hofgeismar, each of which has a population of over 15,000. Baunatal is best known for the Volkswagen plant, which is the second largest Volkswagen AG site in Germany and the fourth largest in the world. Vellmar is a popular residential area that borders directly on Kassel and has good transport links. Hofgeismar is a historic center with a picturesque half-timbered core and a lively city center.
